The twelve days of Christmas

I hope you are enjoying the Christmas holidays. Before Christmas I was doing workshops at Battyeford Primary School as part of their fantastic Adopt an Artist scheme. Here are the beautiful pictures the pupils did.

I was really pleased with the results. The pupils added lots of layers to their pictures using various monoprinting techniques.

Hope you have a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

The Art Market in Huddersfield

Last weekend I was at the Art Market in Huddersfield, as part of the Festival of Light celebrations. There was a wide variety of work on display, all to a really high standard.
This was my stand...

Christmas Stockings.

Cards.

Aura Que was opposite me.

And Liz Salters' beautiful paintings.

And I'm a lucky owner of this fantastic Julie Miles vase after swapping it for one of my prints. I couldn't wait to get it home.

All in all I had a good weekend! I met some great people who said lovely things about my work. I have a commissioned print that was ordered, which I'm really looking forward to doing. And I will be getting all my new prints on my website very soon I promise.

The Art Market

Yesterday I had a great day at the Art Market, Holmfirth. I got to meet lots of lovely customers and see some very talented artists' and makers' work. In preparation I've been screen printing at home. This has taken  me a while to get used to, but it has given me a chance to experiment  more and produce more, which has been exciting. Anyway yesterday was the first time I got to see if people liked the new prints and I was so pleased that they did!

Screen printed Christmas decorations.
My stand with paintings and screen prints.

If you missed yesterday its on again this Sunday and there will be a completely new selection of artists.

Brighton and the sunshine.

Is it really October? I got to enjoy the beautiful, unusual sunshine we've been having and went to the seaside this week. I haven't been to Brighton for a long time. My boyfriend and I ate pizza outside in the heat.We wandered through the lanes. We sat on the beach...

I bought these fantastic wooden letters and had a good old chat about how beautiful these old alphabets are with the shop owner.

and we tried to make plans.

It was Heart Gallery's birthday last week, after five years of showcasing talented artists and makers from the UK. Gallery owner Alison Bartram hand picks the best jewellery, ceramics, textiles, art and photography with a changing programme of exhibitions.

There was fizz, cake pops and frozen yoghurt, as well as many, many
 new exhibiters.
Makepiece showed their beautiful clothes.

Here is the Heart team! From left to right Heather Wilson, Cathy Edwards, Nicolette Fonseca Taylor, Alison BartramMandy Sue Ellen and me.

And a selection of my paintings are in the gallery at the moment. The exhibition is still on and check the Heart Gallery blog for information on all the new work.

Peace

So I have been quiet on the social media front lately as I have been cat sitting for the talented Cathy Edwards in a really peaceful internet-free spot overlooking Hebden Bridge. I painted, walked up a very big hill everyday and slept well!

This is one  I photographed on an earlier visit, but thought I'd share this little lamb with you!

Scribbles at Bolton Museum

These are a few quick sketches I did a while ago at Bolton Museum. They have a selection of stuffed animals, so good for drawing!

The Dreaming Spires..

I sent these paintings to the beautiful Sarah Wiseman Gallery last week.

I've only been to Oxford a few times, but as I was painting the Dreaming Spires, I thought what a lovely place to while away the day making plans.
The deer with the his noisy friend just happened, and has inspired me to get on with some new card designs. I've made a few animal based ones in the past and I think they have worked the best so far!

Stencils and Collage

I have been experimenting with collage and pastel stencils lately and here are some of the results.

I've used this one for some new greetings cards available at Heart Gallery.

David Nash at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

I went to the David Nash exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park this week. It was so nice to get out in the fresh air after lots of hectic weeks! As well as the impressive wood sculptures outside, there were some beautiful charcoal drawings, some using stencils. This is something I have discovered recently and am experimenting with. Watch this space!
